Jody Steinhauer, president of Engage and Change as well as Bargains Group, organized a volunteer event that packed 3,000 survival kits for people experiencing homelessness in Toronto. About 200 volunteers gathered in a warehouse near Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue to assemble the kits, which included sleeping bags, warm clothing, and hygiene products.
She emphasized that these kits may be the only support some people receive during the winter. The goal of the initiative is to help people survive the cold and bring awareness to the conditions faced by those living on the streets.
